These works explore the magical quality of the Sonoran desert environment and its diverse life forms. Most of the prints I produce are monotypes, collagraphs, photopolymer gravures, dry point etching, and monoscreen serigraphs. It is wonderful to experience the transformation of a subject from painted imagery to a print medium.
These works are an embodiment of cultural, spiritual, religious, and superstitious elements that I experienced during my formative years in Bisbee, Arizona. Las Ofrendas means tribute or offering. Las Ofrendas are often associated with Dia de los Muertos: A day to offer tribute to the lives of ancestors and their struggles, beliefs, and existence in this world and the next. It is informative to experience how a subject is transformed when it is translated from painted imagery into a print medium.
